Good morning ladies!
First, happy birthday #6 to Amber! I can't believe our Amber is now 6 -- it seems like she arrived just yesterday (she came 17 minutes after we arrived at the hospital, yikes!). We're having her birthday party & presents on Wed. afternoon, but we'll make a dessert to have tonight wit the family.
We had such a nice time on our Texas roadtrip/vacation. We shuffled our schedule due to DH's 91yo DGma being in the hospital the week before -- we wanted to give her more time to rest before we arrived in Ft. Worth. So we started in Austin, where we met DILs for 2 nights, and saw the bats (the world's largest urban bat colony!), swam at Barton Springs, paddleboarded/kayaked on Town Lake, and ate great BBQ and Southern food, yum!
After that, we rented a cubin in Buda (about 20 minutes south of Austin) -- it was so nice, as it was right on a private creek, and it had canoes, as well as pet emus and a pet potbelly pig (DKs loved them all!). While at the cabin, we went tubing on the Comal River, toured Natural Bridge Caverns (Texas's largest cave), took DKs to the Alamo (Bear's nickname comes from the Alamo's commander, William Barrett Travis -- Barrett means strong as a bear), took the glass-bottom boat tour of Aquarena Springs (one of North America's oldest inhabited sites), and then on our last day DH/Jade scuba-dove in the San Marcos River while Bear/Amber/I snorkeled.
After that, we drove to Ft. Worth, where fortunately DH's DGma feels much better, aside from being somewhat nauseous from the blood thinner they're giving her to break up the blood clots they found in her kidney & spleen. We spent a lot of time visiting with her, and also got to see DH's aunts/uncles/cousins/etc. On Sat., DH's aunt & uncle took us out to the lake, where we rode in their boat & went swimming -- so much fun!
We drove back yesterday, and got home in the evening. I only had energy to bring in everything and sort out the dirty laundry, so I've got a bunch to do today -- laundry, unpacking, cleaning out the fridge, making a menu plan/getting groceries, updating business/home financials + paying bills (will take a while since I have 2 weeks to do, since I didn't update while we were on vacation), making a list of business items to tackle this week, cleaning up our garden, etc. Plus, Jade has her 1-hour orientation at the middle school this afternoon, and I need to go to sign paperwork/pay fees/etc.
I hope you all have a great day!
