My general weekly cleaning and decluttering is not accomplishing anything in the extra room of our home. It has kind of become the junk room where things get tossed or stored and the purpose of the room is totally gone. Even during the 365 Day Declutter there would not be enough time to really get it done the way I want. The paper pile challenge this week could help a lot but there are still issues with the room. I guess the big one is I keep going to garage sales and buying more craft items or cute decorations and they all end up in here but don't really get put away or have a home. Also any project I am working on is stuck in this room. Basically just one big mess and no room to actually do anything except sit at the computer. It looked so cute the day we set the room up. I need to keep that visual in my mind and work towards the goal.
This might be the only room I put in this thread as the rest of them can be done easily, but I feel like I am at the end of ideas for this one and I always do better with a real list. After I made the list I think I am more overwhelmed!
Finish going through the clothes in the closet and decide what to do with each piece
Iron the clothes I will be wearing in the next month or so
Take everything off the top shelf in the closet, get the high school memory book out for Kim, sort through items and put back what needs to be up there
Take everything out of the bottom of the closet, really think about items in gift box and fabric tubs, and put back what I will actually use-I really went through the fabric and yarns and needles and am giving some away. I got all the fabric separated and into vacuum bags and fit into one tub.
Hang photos of the grandkids to make more room on top of cabinet-doing something totally different
Straighten up the inside of the cabinet
Get photos out of frame I don't like and decide what to do with that frame
Reorganize craft cart
Get box of items for Cara to her
Hang up photo/card holder
Declutter top of Koala cabinet - what a mess
Am I going to try to sell the quilt kit? --Yes, DD is helping me with this.
Take everything off bookshelves, dust, declutter, and put back
Dust all the decorative items on the shelves
Look at all the quilting and craft books and decide which ones I could let go--I have about 8 books and 3 packages of stencils ready to go
Make a decision about items that didn't sell at consignment shop-- we are keeping them and two are displayed already
See if I can get DH to go through items on shelf above desk. My idea is to clear off and make a Seahawks display/bring jersey from storage and put in case, put up sign-would look cool--he cleared it off the way he wants it - not sure the Seahawks display idea is being bought but I gave it my best.
Continue to work on boxes with papers in them until empty-one is empty and one to go-boxes are gone and items left are in a plastic file to be gone through.
Continue to work on paper basket - empty weekly
What could be stored in corner that I can't get to behind sewing table?--the Christmas village
Go through work files and see if I can shred some applications from jobs I didn't get
Hopefully when DH sees the room he will be inspired to make his shelving area look a little less messy --he started before I even said anything
